
Welcome to the future of Round Lake!
Lake County’s proposed upcoming project will transform Cedar Lake Road, enhancing safety and capacity from Nippersink Road to Hart Road, right through downtown.
Currently in Phase II Design Engineering and Land Acquisition. Programmed letting date is fall 2027, depending on project readiness and funding availability.


Metra Railroad Improvements
The Metra Round Lake Station will be upgraded and moved east to improve traffic flow when trains arrive. Expect a new railroad crossing with top-notch safety features and a revamped pedestrian access to the station, complete with a modern prairie-style warming shelter and expanded platform.


Modernized Intersections,
Increased Mobility, and Better Drainage
Illinois Route 134 will be revitalized with new left turn lanes some vehicular space is converted to green space. Throughout, expect intersection upgrades, new signals, and enhanced bicycle and pedestrian paths, including connections to the Millenium Trail. Storm sewers will be upsized to alleviate local drainage issues.
