Welcome to the future of Round Lake! Lake County’s upcoming project will transform Cedar Lake Road, enhancing safety and capacity from Nippersink Road to Hart Road, right through downtown. The Metra Round Lake Station is also getting an upgrade, moving east to improve traffic flow when trains arrive. Expect a new railroad crossing with top-notch safety features and revamped pedestrian access to the station, complete with a modern prairie-style warming shelter and expanded platform. We're also revitalizing Illinois Route 134 by adding left turn lanes and converting some vehicular space to green space. Throughout, expect intersection upgrades, new signals, and enhanced bicycle and pedestrian paths, including connections to the Millenium Trail. Furthermore, storm sewers will be upsized to alleviate local drainage issues. This project is a cornerstone of the Village’s downtown streetscape plan, ensuring a vibrant, connected future for Round Lake.
